This 1961 Mark 2 is a US-market car that has been turned into a properly uprated custom. It left the factory in July 1961 in Pearl Gray with a red interior, and was later modified in America to 4.2-litre specification. It is left-hand drive.
The 4.2-litre XK engine runs triple SU carburettors and is quoted at 265 bhp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox and a limited-slip differential. Other changes include power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel disc brakes, Koni adjustable dampers, uprated cooling, a modern ignition, a stainless exhaust, air conditioning and 16-inch JD Competition wire wheels.
A later Swiss owner bought it in 2014 and had it restored between 2015 and 2017 by Rebellion Motors and Old-timer Centre Ostschweiz, at a stated cost of more than 149,000 CHF. The body was stripped and repaired with new metal, then repainted in Ebony Black over a tan interior. The engine was rebuilt, as were the carburettors. It is now UK registered and comes with its Swiss registration documents. The odometer reads 13,668 miles.
