About this car

Number 12 of just 50 Commemorative V12 E-Types built in 1975 to mark the end of E-Type production, this car occupies a specific place in Jaguar history. Of the 50 examples produced, 49 were finished in black — this car's colour — with one in green; all were right-hand-drive Roadsters with cinnamon leather interiors regardless of territorial destination. This example is further distinguished as one of only 30 fitted with a manual gearbox, and it carries a Jaguar Heritage Certificate alongside a brass identification plaque signed by Sir William Lyons, Jaguar's then-chairman, affixed to the glovebox lid.

The current and fourth owner from new acquired the car in 2019 and completed a four-year, 100-point restoration from a full strip-down, comprehensively documented in photographs. Bodywork and paint were entrusted to Jaguar specialist XK Engineering, with GB Classic Trim handling the interior and a new mohair hood. The restorer is a Chartered Engineer with prior concours restorations of four V12 E-Types, a Jaguar XK150, and a Ferrari Dino to his name, as well as engineering work for Formula One teams — a background that lends the work unusual credibility. The matching-numbers integrity has been preserved throughout.

Sympathetic modifications accompany the rebuild: a proven lip-seal rear crankshaft conversion, lightened flywheel, high-torque starter motor, stainless steel exhaust, and adjustable shock absorbers, with all displaced original components retained where applicable. The car now stands at 50,000 miles total but requires careful running-in following restoration, making it effectively a returning-to-service example. A removable hardtop is included alongside the mohair soft top.
