Jaguar E-Type Semi-Lightweight

This E-Type is a Semi-Lightweight build: the steel monocoque is kept, but the bonnet, doors, lower rear wings and boot are aluminium, and the rear arches are widened for wider wheels. It began life as a 1963 open two-seater and was reimported from the United States in 1991, going on to run in the Spa Six Hours and other European events.

The 3.8-litre wide-angle-head engine was built by Crosthwaite & Gardiner and is quoted at 370 bhp, driving through a Denis Welch straight-cut four-speed gearbox. Race equipment includes an FIA roll cage, magnesium wheels, side-exit exhaust, adjustable suspension, a foam-filled alloy fuel tank, and a plumbed-in fire system. A lightweight hardtop with Perspex windows is fitted.

The car has been refreshed this year and took a class win at the 2026 Goodwood Spring Sprint. It carries a Historic Technical Passport (Period F) valid to 31 December 2027, for Pre-'66 GT racing, and is road registered. A history file holds the FIA/HTP papers, the V5 and numerous invoices.
