Jaguar E-Type 3.8 FHC

This is Pendine's own E-Type, a 1963 Series 1 3.8 fixed-head coupe, rebuilt as a fast road car in the spirit of a period SCCA racer. It began as a matching-numbers car imported from the USA and spent two years being restored, with the stated build cost exceeding £100,000.

The specification goes well beyond standard. The 3.8-litre engine has been stripped and rebuilt with Piper D-Type camshafts, Cosworth pistons, balanced conrods, a skimmed head and a competition exhaust with Bob Beere manifolds. It is paired with a rebuilt full-synchro 4.2 gearbox, a heavier clutch and a limited-slip differential. Zeus four-pot front calipers, adjustable Gaz coilovers and custom wire wheels with wider rears complete the chassis work.

The body was taken down completely, with new floors, sills and boot floor, while the original bonnet was retained. Finished in Warwick Grey with a red interior, competition bucket seats and deliberately worn leather, it was completed in December 2021. It has covered over 2,000 miles in running-in and has done numerous events in Europe.
