Listed today at The Classic Motor Hub, Bibury. Last checked today.
This single-seater is a replica of the works Frazer Nash raced by AFP Fane through 1936, one of only a handful of single-seaters the company built in period. Construction began in the 1960s with Barry Peerless gathering parts. It passed through Cameron Millar's hands before Mike Gibbs had it finished in the mid-1980s, with input from Harry Olrog, a long-time Frazer Nash employee.
Power comes from a 1500cc Meadows four-cylinder with a Roots-type, Maserati-style supercharger built by John Bibby. It makes 203bhp on methanol, up from just over 150bhp with the original Cozette blower. A new block was made in 2011-12 and is paired with a two-port Meadows 4ED head. Hydraulic finned magnesium drum brakes, patterned on Maserati items, replaced the cable-operated originals from 2006. The chain-drive transmission, quarter-elliptic springs and aluminium bodywork follow the works cars. Weight is 650kg with 30 litres of fuel.
The car has raced regularly for 10 to 15 years. It has twice finished second at the Goodwood Members' Meeting and has run at the Goodwood Revival. It is eligible for VSCC events. This is the first time it has been offered for sale since completion.
