About this car

The Le Mans Replica was Frazer Nash's most sporting post-war model, named after the car that took third overall at Le Mans in 1949. Only 29 were built between 1949 and 1954, and just seven of those were the rarer MkII on the parallel-tube chassis. This one, FN176, was the second of the seven and was completed in May 1952 as a works race and development car, powered by a Bristol six-cylinder 2-litre engine.

Its competition record is unusually strong. Stirling Moss took pole at the 1952 Prix de Monte Carlo support race at Monaco, and later drivers included Ken Wharton, Roy Salvadori, Tony Crook and Tony Brooks. It won at Boreham ahead of Mike Hawthorn and took class wins at Silverstone. The car was rebuilt in 1954 as FN176A with a new alloy body, then crashed heavily at the 1955 Dundrod TT.

The original 1954 body survived separately, and the chassis plate and registration XMG6 were later reunited with it. Bill Roberts returned the car to its 1954 form in the early 2000s. It has raced in recent seasons, including at the Goodwood Revival and Members' Meeting. It is Mille Miglia eligible, with new FIA papers valid to the end of 2035 and an MSA-validated Historic Technical Passport. Price is on application.
