The 250 GTE was Ferrari's first series-production four-seater, and it became the company's best seller of its day. This is a late Series III car, the one with the "big valve" version of the Colombo V12 and the revised lights: fog lamps moved inboard of the headlamps and a single-unit tail lamp in place of the earlier three-bulb stack. It is a left-hand-drive car with a four-speed manual gearbox and overdrive.
Chassis 04611 was completed in May 1963 and delivered new to the Milan dealer Crepaldi. The page describes it as a matching-numbers car. It has had a bare-metal respray in its original Grigio Fumo, and the interior has been retrimmed in the original Arancia hide. The original period instruments are in place and the odometer reads 87,000 km, roughly 54,000 miles.
The engine bay is described as detailed, and a compression test is said to show good readings on all twelve cylinders. Mechanical work is said to have been kept up to date by various specialists, with bills shown in the galleries. The car has been registered in both Austria and the UK, and it is currently with an Austrian collection, where viewings take place.
