1963 Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray Split Window
£199,995
About this car
Offered as a 1963 split-window Sting Ray, this is one of the most sought-after Corvettes of the C2 generation, and the combination here is the one collectors look for: the Rochester mechanical fuel-injected 360 bhp V8 paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The split rear window lasted only for the 1963 model year, and the fuel-injected, manual-transmission pairing is far rarer still. The car is said to be matching-numbers.
The car was restored nut-and-bolt in the United States in 2018, with the work covering the whole car rather than just the cosmetics. It has since come to the UK, where servicing and mechanical work have been carried out by Pilgrim Motorsport, a well-known Corvette specialist, and the invoices are in the history file. Quoted performance is 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds and a top speed of 142 mph, with 352 lb-ft of torque.
The paperwork is unusually complete for a car of this age. It includes the original 1963 split-window owner's manual, an extensive photographic record of the restoration and the recent maintenance invoices. That documentation makes it a credible candidate for concours entry or for a serious American classic collection.
