The Type 55 was Bugatti's road-going counterpart to the Type 51 racer, pairing a supercharged straight-eight with a lightweight roadster body. It is among the most sought-after pre-war Bugattis. This example is not an original car, though.
The dealer describes it as a reconstruction built mostly from new components, in effect a tool-room copy of an original. It is said to have the correct engine and supercharger. It has covered only a few hundred miles, so it is essentially in new condition.
It is road legal on Belgian plates, with a registration document dated 1934, and comes with an expired Montana, USA title. The chassis number is listed as to be confirmed. The listing shows the price as accepted, which suggests a sale may be agreed.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine layout from Bugatti Molsheim specs (2,262 cc supercharged straight-8, Type 51-derived). Power, weight and performance left null because no reliable factory figures exist for this pre-war car.).
£380,000 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
