Bugatti Type 37A

The Type 37A was Bugatti's supercharged version of the Type 37 Grand Prix car, a light, fast road and competition machine from the late 1920s. This example, chassis 37280, was supplied new to Spain and remains Spanish-registered, with viewings arranged there.

It is a car that has been put back together rather than one that survived intact. The current long-term owner acquired it incomplete: the chassis and rear axle were together, along with the original bulkhead, bonnet, front wings and radiator, while the rest of the body was not original. The engine supplied with it was declared not to be from this car. That engine has since been fully rebuilt in France by Ventoux Moteurs, who also fitted the supercharger, and the gearbox has been overhauled. Type 35 wheels and drums were fitted, and the coachwork was made and fitted to the chassis by the owner.

The car is described as starting readily and running well. It has a current MOT, a current FIVA identity card and a full set of period instruments. It is reported to have taken part in several historic events, including multiple Mille Miglia entries. Mileage and number of owners are not given.
