BRM P48

This is chassis 486, a 1960 BRM P48 Formula 1 car that Dan Gurney drove at Silverstone for that year's British Grand Prix. Gurney went on to lead the Portuguese Grand Prix in it and to challenge Stirling Moss in the United States Grand Prix. It also took the only international race win for a P48, at Ballarat in Australia, which was Gurney's last race for BRM.

BRM sold the car in 1962 to the Scottish hillclimber Ray Fielding, with the engine that is still in it today. Fielding won a round of the RAC Hill Climb Championship and finished second overall. The engine has a history of its own. It began in P25 chassis 1, took pole position with Moss and was used by Ron Flockhart, Behra and Bonnier, before going into both P48 prototypes.

The current owner bought the car from Mike Stow in the early 1970s and left it unrestored until about 2010, when Hall & Hall rebuilt the engine. The chassis has a new Elektron magnesium body, and the original body comes with the car. It finished fifth in the 2018 Goodwood Revival Richmond & Gordon Trophy and set the third fastest lap.
