This is chassis 2617, an authorised reconstruction of the BRM P261 that Jackie Stewart used as his main car in 1965. In that car he won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza, and the following year the Monaco Grand Prix. The original was wrecked at Spa in 1966, in the Masta Kink accident that helped prompt Stewart's safety campaigning.
The rebuild was completed in the 1990s for Richard Attwood by Hall & Fowler, now Hall & Hall, in Bourne, Lincolnshire. It was done with the approval of the Owen family, who own BRM. It uses a new monocoque by Kerry Adams, with largely original period BRM components around it. Parts reputed to come from the crashed chassis and an original P60 engine are included.
The car now has a freshly rebuilt 1.5-litre P56 V8 in late specification with the inside exhaust layout. It has won the Glover Trophy at the Goodwood Revival five times (2000, 2001, 2003, 2010 and 2023) and is eligible for HGPCA events. A spares package is included, with the partly dismantled P60 engine number 6016, spare wheels and running spares. The price is on application.
