The E9 3.0 CSL, the "Batmobile", was built to homologate BMW for touring car racing, with thin-gauge steel, aluminium doors, bonnet and boot lid, and Perspex side windows making it 210 kg lighter than the 3.0 CSi. This right-hand-drive car is a City Pack example, the specification that added power steering, electric windows, sound deadening and chrome bumpers for road use. It is finished in Fjord Blue over black and has a manual gearbox.

The current owner, who has nearly 50 years of experience with BMW classics, bought it 12 years ago and rebuilt it over four years. The work took 750 hours and more than £40,000 in parts. Since then it has covered European road trips and festivals. It shows 75,600 miles and has had nine owners, and a history file is included.
