BMW 2002 Turbo

The 2002 Turbo was Europe's first turbocharged production car, and only 1,672 were built between 1973 and 1975, all of them left-hand drive. This 1974 example is in Chamonix White with a black interior. It has the optional Getrag 235 close-ratio five-speed gearbox and the Turbo alloy wheels, a costly option when new.

It was supplied new to an Italian owner, then passed to a Frenchman who commissioned a full restoration in Holland. That work included a bare-metal respray, new front wings, doors, bonnet and boot lid, and a mechanical rebuild using the last new engine and KKK turbocharger from BMW Mobile Tradition. The dealer imported it to the UK in 2008 and has been involved with it since. It has had four owners and has appeared in Octane, Classic & Sports Car and Werke.

The speedometer shows 75,500 km. The history file holds photographs of the restoration, invoices, a BMW Classic certificate of authenticity, spare keys and the booklets. The dealer says it will be serviced and the underside treated before sale. The wheels have been refinished and fitted with new tyres.
