This 1956 Bentley S1 Sports Saloon, chassis B489AP, wears its original two-tone scheme of Smoke green over Sage green, with a green leather interior to match. The paint has been redone to a high standard, and the page singles out the chrome, wood veneers, carpets and headlining as being in very good order.
Its paper trail is unusually deep. Three folders hold maintenance and repair invoices, some dating to the 1970s and some recent and substantial, along with a near-complete run of MoT certificates back to 1972. The handbook is with the car, as is the original delivery sheet from Bentley Motors to the supplying dealer, Rippon Bros. The tool kit is complete and correctly stowed. Three-point belts have been fitted at the front and lap belts at the rear.
The first owner was Major Kenneth Lee of the Royal Engineers. A later owner, the Manchester fabric firm Donald Shearer & Co, has a small link to Buddy Holly's manager, Norman Petty. The car is offered newly MoT tested and is described as driving nicely.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Bentley Motors (Crewe) engine specification. Bentley published no power figure, and the speed and weight figures that circulate come from period road tests, so they are left blank.).
