This 1957 Bentley S1 Continental carries Park Ward's fixed-head coupe body, built to Design No 701. Chassis BC59BG is the thirty-fifth of forty-five built to that design. It was also the first of only five fitted with a manual gearbox, which is unusual for a car that was usually specified with automatic.
It was completed in June 1957 in Shell Grey over black, and was supplied new through J.S. Inskip of New York. The history file records three further owners in the US up to the late 1970s. The car returned to the UK in 2016 and went to a British collector, who had it prepared for regular use.
Around £150,000 has reportedly been spent on mechanical and cosmetic work in recent years. It is now finished in Shell Grey with red leather and has right-hand drive and a sliding sunroof. It comes with the original handbook, copy chassis cards, tools and a history file.
