This 1937 Derby-built Bentley 4¼ Litre carries a four-door Vanden Plas 'Allweather' tourer body, a more practical take on the open Bentley than the usual sporting two-seater. The wide body and large doors make it easy to get into, and the hood, wind-up windows and tonneau cover give it real weather protection. Overdrive is fitted, which should make long-distance running more relaxed.
The car was restored from the chassis frame upwards in the 1990s. Steve Penny re-framed and restored the coachwork, and McKenzie Guppy carried out much of the mechanical work. The engine has been fitted with an MX-style thermostat and oil filter conversion. The restoration invoices on file total nearly £150,000, and the file also holds a photographic record, magazine articles and a 1968 logbook.
Chassis number B179JY is recorded with an early history in the Skinner family, and later owners are listed. It is offered with a fresh MoT. The page gives no mileage.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine specs (4,257 cc straight-six, twin SU carburettors) are from Bentley/Rolls-Royce Derby chassis specs. Rolls-Royce never published power figures, and weight and performance depended on the coachbuilt Vanden Plas body, so these are null.).
£110,000 since it was listed on 6 November 2026. No changes yet.
