This Derby-built 4¼ Litre carries one of H.J. Mulliner's more unusual coachbuilt designs, the High Vision Coupé. Its roof combines a patented curved Perspex panel above the windscreen, shaded by concertina blinds, with a full glass sunroof. The rear quarter windows and windscreen open for through-ventilation, which gives a near-convertible feel with the weather kept out.
It was first delivered to Robert Graseby, a Surrey instrument maker who bought six Derby Bentleys new, one a year from 1934. In the 1980s it sat in the Mintz collection in Michigan. It then returned to the UK and spent 1993 to 2016 with Gordon Willey. The last owner bought it in 2016 and covered about 4,000 miles on events. The car is documented in Bernard King's book on the Derby Bentleys and in Sedgwick's pre-war register.
It is finished in Masons Black, with paint described as very good and beige leather showing light patina. The burr walnut and satinwood veneers have been refinished. A stainless exhaust has been fitted, and the history file holds about £22,000 of recent bills. A set of original small tools is in the boot lid.
