Listed today at Ranmore Fine Motor Cars, Betchworth.
This 1926 Bentley 3 Litre was built as a long-chassis car with a Vanden Plas tourer body. In the early 1950s it was converted to Speed specification by Tony Townsend. The work included a revised Vanden Plas body, Sloper carburettors, high-compression pistons and stiffer road springs.
The engine carries significant parts from the original unit, number 1242. It was brought up to Speed specification with other correctly stamped components, numbers 54 and 82. In other respects the car is described as matching numbers, with the chassis marked in the correct places. It is finished in Amaranth, a standard period colour, though it began life painted blue.
The history is documented from 1926 to the present, covering both ownership and mechanical work. A retired Bentley Drivers Club director kept it for a long period, and it was maintained throughout by Bentley specialists. It has a four-speed manual gearbox. The listing is marked sold and gives no price or mileage.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine figures from Bentley Motors 3 Litre chassis spec. Power, top speed (the Speed Model's 90 mph was a sales promise) and the weight of the Vanden Plas body can't be confirmed as factory figures, so they are left blank.).
