Bentley 3 1/2 Litre Sports Saloon Pillarless Coupe By Gurney Nutting

This is a 1935 Derby Bentley 3½ Litre with Gurney Nutting's Sportsman's Coupe body, a swept-panel pillarless design. Only twelve 3½ Litre chassis and one 4¼ Litre received it, which makes it one of the rarer shapes on these cars. This example has appeared in Neill Fraser's book Bentley Beauty. It is finished in Apple Green with a green leather interior.

The car has been with its current owner since 2010. He bought it from a keeper who had it for about 20 years and who had it comprehensively restored. Changes from standard include hydraulic power steering and a Payne overdrive that works on all four gears, both fitted in the 1990s. The original propshaft is included. Options include a metal sunroof, an opening windscreen and reclining front seats.

The history folder holds a pre-purchase inspection by Ken Lea and about 25 years of service records. The car also comes with Factory Build Records, the driver's handbook and a copy of the BDC technical manual. It is FIVA registered. It was a finalist in the Patina Class at the 2019 Bentley Drivers Club Concours at Blenheim Palace. The odometer reads 23,737 miles.
