About this car

This is a 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II in tri-carb form, with the 2,912cc six-cylinder engine and a four-speed manual gearbox. The dealer says only 355 Mk IIs were built, and this car has the centre gear change fitted to later cars of the type.

It was supplied new to New York in September 1961, originally in Colorado Red over black. It stayed in the US until 2007, when it was exported. In 2011 it went to a Spanish owner at Sotogrande, who commissioned a full bare-shell restoration. It is now finished in Ice Blue over Old English White.

The car was upgraded for hot-climate use. It has louvres in the front wings and bonnet, re-profiled wheel arches, and a sucker and blower fitted to the radiator. A booster blower and a new heater matrix cool the footwells. Other changes are 123 ignition, fully adjustable rear suspension, a bespoke 16-gallon fuel tank and new weather equipment. XJS seats with headrests and inertia-reel belts replace the originals, and the original apertures are unaltered so the change can be reversed. Servicing was carried out annually by a local specialist. No mileage is stated.
