About this car

This is an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Volante in Prince of Wales specification, a run of just 27 cars that paired the Vantage's X-Pack V8 with the plainer bodywork of the standard Volante. There were no wide arches, side skirts or large rear spoiler. The look was commissioned after the then Prince of Wales disliked the standard Vantage's aggressive styling. Of the 27, 22 were right-hand drive.

This car is described as the second-to-last PoW Volante built. It was first sold through Aston Martin Sales London in January 1990 in right-hand drive with a manual gearbox. The colour was Balmoral Green, with tan leather piped in dark green, green carpets and a black mohair hood. The current owner family bought it in late 1998 and had Aston Martin Works convert it to left-hand drive, one of only three PoW cars to receive that conversion. In 2000 Works gave it a bare-metal repaint in the original Balmoral Green.

It has covered 98,500 miles and is a one-previous-owner car, with regular servicing by Aston Martin Hilversum in Holland. The page states matching numbers, along with the original books, tools, keys and fitted luggage. The 5.3-litre V8 drives the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The price is on application.

Performance

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Engine and layout come from known Aston Martin V8 specs. Aston did not reliably publish performance figures for this car, so those are left null. Build ended about 1989, so 1991 is likely a registration year. About 26 Prince of Wales cars were built, but this was a production count, not an announced limited run, so units is null.).

Engine
5,340 cc, 8 cylinders

Naturally aspirated
