This DB5 has an unusual place in Aston Martin history. Delivered in 1965 to David Brown Jnr, son of the company's chairman, it was later loaned to Ogle Design, which built a one-off interior for Aston Martin to assess for the coming DB6. The car still carries it: DB6-size instruments, a piano black fascia, a centre console with armrest and a large passenger glovebox. Elements of the design, notably the seats and door trims, did reach the DB6.
The car left the factory in Sierra Blue. It was in the USA by the mid-1980s and in Sweden by 2000, then bought by a UK collector in 2004 who commissioned a full restoration, completed in 2007 by Bodylines, Spray Tec and R S Williams. The rebuilt matching-numbers engine is to Vantage-specification 4.2-litre form. The car now wears Silver Birch, with air conditioning and Borrani wire wheels.
It shows 1,431 miles, about 1,200 of them at the time of its 2018 purchase by a Channel Islands owner who used it sparingly. The page lists five previous owners and a history file with restoration invoices, an engine dynamometer sheet and an AMHT-certified build record. The chassis number is 1676/R, and the car is priced on application.
