This is one of only 123 DB5 Convertibles built. It left Newport Pagnell in January 1964 in Tudor Grey with a matching factory hard top, black Connolly interior and a black Duracol hood. Its first owner was an antiques dealer in New Bond Street, and factory records trace several later keepers.
One owner, Mr Levy, kept it for more than 40 years from the 1970s until 2014. During that time it had a respray in 1987 and an engine rebuild in 2004, with the work carried out by Aston Martin specialists and documented in the history file.
The current owner then commissioned a full nut-and-bolt restoration by Desmond J Smail, running from 2015 to 2018. The work covered chassis, sill and body fabrication, and a rebuild of the engine to 4.2-litre Cosworth specification. The gearbox, axle, suspension and brakes were also rebuilt, and the car was resprayed in Coniston Sand, retrimmed and given a new black mohair hood. It has EPAC power steering and electric cooling fans. Desmond J Smail has serviced it since the restoration.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Aston Martin period factory figures (282 bhp gross, 3,995cc straight-six). Weight, top speed and 0-60 left null: the factory didn't publish convertible-specific figures, and the common ones come from press road tests.).
