This 1972 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a right-hand-drive car supplied new through Hawco Volkswagen of Elgin in Scotland. It was reportedly meant for the US market, but was diverted to a single-car allocation for the UK dealership. It is finished in Saturn Yellow with a black roof, a factory-ordered combination the dealer describes as rare.
It shows 26,085 miles. The service record runs from 45 miles in 1972 to 23,437 miles in 1977, and the MOT history shows very little use since 2009. The dealer says the car spent 37 years displayed inside its supplying dealership. It has three former keepers and is MOT exempt.
The paint is described as original apart from small touch-ups from an early-1990s break-in at the showroom. The car has its original number plates, keys, factory booklets, jack and tool kit. No radio was ever fitted, and the blanking plate is still in place. The engine is the air-cooled 1.6-litre flat-four with a manual gearbox. A tailored cover is included.
