Volkswagen Golf GTI 1.8 8V

This 1991 Golf GTI is a Mk2 with the 1.8-litre eight-valve engine and a five-speed manual gearbox, finished in Tornado Red. The odometer shows about 150,000 miles, but the car has been through a full restoration, so the figure says little about its current state.

DS Motorsport UK carried out the work over 18 months, from March 2023 to September 2024, and documented 609 hours of labour. The shell was restored and repainted, and the engine was rebored and rebuilt with new Mahle pistons. The gearbox was reconditioned and a new clutch fitted. Suspension is new Bilstein B12 dampers with Eibach springs, and the brakes are upgraded with a G60 front conversion. The car sits on refurbished BBS RA wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres.

The dealer says only 751 miles have been covered since the rebuild. The car comes with the restoration records, supporting paperwork and the V5, plus an MOT.
