CSX 2005 is the sixth Cobra built and the first offered to the public, invoiced in August 1962 to Ed Hugus's European Cars, Inc. as a retail car. That makes it one of the earliest 260 Cobras, from before Shelby American had a production contract with Ford.
Its history is unusually well documented. Shelby American leased it to Universal Studios for The Killers (1964), where it was modified for filming and carried the number 98. It then became a "T" trainer car at the Carroll Shelby School of High Performance Driving. Pupils at the school included James Garner and Steve McQueen, and Pete Brock was Headmaster.
After the school, the car passed through several private owners and was in static storage from the late 1970s until 2010. It was then restored by Mike McCluskey to its trainer-car appearance, and further Concours work followed after the current owner bought it in 2016. It was shown at Pebble Beach in 2017 and at Salon Privé in 2018. The page gives no price, mileage or registration.
