Rolls-Royce Phantom II Continental Sports Saloon By Thrupp & Maberly

Chassis 29TA is one of only three Phantom II Continentals bodied by Thrupp & Maberly, and it still wears its original sports saloon coachwork. The two-tone mid and pale blue car has blue-grey hide, a burled walnut interior and powder blue carpets. Special-order equipment from new includes dual side-mounted spare wheels, a retractable rear luggage rack, a full-length sliding sunroof, a centre driving light and "Wind tone" trumpet horns.

The history is well documented. The first owner was F. Parkinson, and later keepers included owners in London and then California, where the car spent many decades. It was re-imported to the UK after 2002. It appears in the Rolls-Royce Owners' Club magazine The Flying Lady and on page 241 of Raymond Gentile's book on the Phantom II Continental. The dealer also notes participation in concours events and tours.

The dealer sold the car in 2008 and has now taken it back. It has had a full service and set-up by Kenworthy & Co, plus a new clutch, in work billed at over £9,000. The dealer reports about 50 miles of fast road use since, with cool running and 25 lb oil pressure at speed. The listing shows the price as "Accepted", so the car appears to be under offer.
