About this car

Chassis 6AD is a late-production Silver Ghost, built shortly before Rolls-Royce car output was interrupted by the First World War. It is documented in John Fasal's book The Edwardian Rolls-Royce. It left the factory as a rolling chassis for H J Mulliner to body as a tourer. The page says it was commandeered for military use, thought to be as a Royal Navy ambulance, and was re-bodied as a saloon around 1919.

The car went back to the works in 1924 for updating. It received a new rear axle, tandem magneto and dynamo, and a self-starter. It also carries front-wheel brakes and a servo gearbox. It was restored around 1970 to 1972 with a replica London-Edinburgh tourer body. In the 1990s Harley Engineering of Stratford-upon-Avon built the Alpine Eagle replica body it wears now. Owners include Arthur Griffin from 1972, a 1987 auction sale, and the late Peter Phillips from the late 1980s. The current owner bought it in 2019.

The coachwork is white, with a louvred bonnet left in polished aluminium and buttoned black leather inside. It has a full set of instruments, including a temperature gauge and an Elliott speedometer, plus a complete tool set. Priory Vintage Car Company has maintained it, with bills on file, and a large set of history folders comes with it. No mileage is stated. The page shows the price as "Accepted", which suggests an offer has been agreed.
