This 1920 Silver Ghost carries the Alpine Eagle specification noted in its build sheets, and the chassis (40FW) is also designated 'high speed'. The Alpine Eagle was the sportier take on Rolls-Royce's 40/50hp, and this one wears a dual-cowl skiff torpedo body by the Parisian coachbuilder Labourdette.
Its first owner was Marcel Boussac, the French textile magnate and racehorse breeder. Notable details include a top-opening windscreen, a rear Auster screen, Lucas 'King of the Road' headlamps, scuttle-mounted sidelights and Toby diver's lamps at the rear, all recently re-plated in nickel.
West Hoathly Garage repainted and restored the car in 2011, and the interior was re-trimmed at the same time in deep-buttoned light grey leather with blue carpets. Upgrades include servo-assisted brakes, a Smiths 0-80mph speedometer, an eight-day trip clock and electric fuel pumps. The dealer describes it as part of a private collection and well maintained, suited to Ghost tours and historic events. No mileage is stated.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Rolls-Royce 40/50 chassis specification (7,428 cc side-valve straight-six). Rolls-Royce never published power and Labourdette coachbuilt the body, so there are no factory figures for performance or weight.).
£250,000 since it was listed on 5 November 2026. No changes yet.
