Sapphire Blue Metallic over Onyx Black leather with Acid Green piping is one of the more striking combinations available on the 918, and this 2014 example carries it well. One of just 918 produced worldwide, this is a European-supplied car with 10,638 miles and a purposeful options list: Front Axle Lift System, Lightweight Bucket Racing Seats, Carbon Fibre Interior Package, 6-Point Seat Belts, and the Glare Reducing Interior Package — the spec of a car ordered to be used rather than stored. Paint Protection Film has been applied to the entire vehicle, keeping the Sapphire Blue in well-preserved condition, and the 20/21-inch 918 Spyder wheels in Satin Platinum round off an exterior that looks exactly as it should.

The 4.6-litre naturally aspirated V8, derived from Porsche's RS Spyder LMP2 programme, combines with two electric motors for 887 bhp and a 0–62 time of 2.5 seconds flat, with 214 mph on offer at the top end. Porsche Active Aerodynamics, rear-axle steering, Ceramic Composite Brakes and Torque Vectoring Plus are all present, managed through the seven-speed PDK sending drive to all four wheels across five selectable drivetrain modes including the dedicated Race Hybrid and Hot Lap settings.

As the third member of the so-called Holy Trinity alongside the LaFerrari and McLaren P1, the 918 Spyder holds a unique position: the most technically complex of the group, and arguably the most usable day-to-day, with removable roof panels, a full infotainment system and genuine comfort over distance. A decade on from production, it remains one of the most consequential collector cars of its generation — and this example, with its well-chosen factory specification and conservative mileage, represents it well.
