The Porsche 550 A Spyder is one of the most significant cars in the marque's history: a lightweight, mid-engined racer that built Porsche's reputation in sports car competition during the 1950s. This example, serial number 550 A-0147, is described as expertly restored.
It left the factory on 20 February 1959 as a spare car, delivered new to Art Bunker Porsche and Volkswagen in Kansas City, Missouri. A factory Kardex is on file, and a Jean-Pierre Cornu dossier and technical specification are available on request.
Its period racing record is documented, mostly in SCCA events on the US East Coast between 1959 and 1961. It took second at Thompson in July 1959 and a class win (FM) at Indianapolis in July 1961. Later it raced locally in South America from 1962 to 1965. The car is located within the EU, and the price is on application.

The maker’s official figures for this model, not measurements of this car (Porsche historical figures for the 550 A (135 PS, Type 547 1498cc four-cam flat-four). The 550 A was built in 1956–57, so a 1959 model year doesn't match the factory production years. Weight and performance figures left null because they couldn't be confirmed.).
