Morgan Plus 8 4.6

The Plus 8 sat at the top of the Morgan range, pairing the traditional aluminium-bodied, steel-winged sports car with a Rover V8. This 1997 car has the 4.6-litre engine and a five-speed manual gearbox.

It was ordered new through Libra Motive by a medical student who waited six years before confirming the specification. The order form is on file. It began as a 3.9 and was changed to a 4.6 during the order period. Paint is Rolls-Royce Velvet Green over Stone leather with a matching Stone hood, a walnut dash and an organ-type accelerator. Special-order extras include Cibie spot lamps, a 14-inch walnut Moto-Lita steering wheel, an oil cooler, a Stone-trimmed sidescreen bag and a Librands cross-over sports exhaust. It sits on 16-inch chrome wire wheels.

Use has been light. The first owner kept it for 24 years, and the current keeper bought it in 2021 and has added only about 1,500 miles. The page shows 15,355 miles and a specialist service history. In 2023 the catalytic converters were replaced with sports cats after a rattle, and platinum spark plugs were fitted. The dealer reports the car passed its workshop checks. It is now marked as sold.
