About this car

The MGA arrived in 1955 with a smooth, streamlined body that replaced the upright TF, and two prototypes ran at Le Mans that year, finishing fifth and sixth in class. This 1800 Roadster was first registered in the UK in 1957 as a right-hand-drive car, and has been built as a 'Le Mans Special' tribute.

The work was carried out in 2024 by FW Motors for the current owner, who bought the car in January 2020. It has an MGB 1800cc engine built to fast-road specification, with Arrow con rods, forged pistons, a gas-flowed head, a lightened flywheel and a Weber 45 DCOE carburettor. It is paired with a five-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. The brakes were overhauled, including front discs, along with the suspension, wiring and interior trim. A bare-metal respray left it in Silver Grey with red leather and black carpets.

Period-style details include a louvred bonnet, a Perspex windscreen, a rear boot fin, a tonneau cover and an alloy radiator with an electric fan. The history file holds the current V5, previous MOTs, a heritage certificate, restoration photographs and invoices. No mileage is stated.
