The SLS AMG Roadster holds a distinctive place in Mercedes history as AMG's first fully in-house standalone model — not a derivative of a standard platform, but a purpose-built sports car with a front-mid-mounted 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 and a rear-mounted 7-speed DCT for near-ideal weight distribution. Producing 571 bhp and capable of 197 mph, it represents the end of an era for large-displacement, naturally aspirated AMG sports cars.
