The 680 S was the first full design completed under Ferdinand Porsche for the newly merged Daimler-Benz, and just 128 S-Types were built. This is chassis 35222, ordered through the Berlin main dealer in July 1927 in right-hand drive and registered to Richard Klinger that August. It carries Sindelfingen Sports Tourer coachwork, believed to have been originally painted dark green.
Its ownership list reads like a who's who of creative and collecting circles. Playwright Philip Barry used it on the French Riviera and later in Florida. Charles Addams, creator of the Addams Family, took it in 1947, raced it at Watkins Glen and won at Bridgehampton in 1951. Film producer John Calley had it restored in the early 1970s by Phil Hill's Hill & Vaughn, which reversed Addams' modifications and finished it in taupe over red. It later passed through the Hayashi collection and Bernie Ecclestone's hands before reaching a Dutch owner who registered it in the UK.
The page states that the car retains its original matching-numbers engine, chassis and Sindelfingen bodywork. It has been with its current owner since 2013 and returned to Germany that year. The price is on application, and no mileage is given.
