Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3

The 300SEL 6.3 put the 6.3-litre V8 from the 600 Grosser limousine into the long-wheelbase S-Class body, creating one of the great Q-cars. This example was built in November 1972, among the last of its run, and is finished in Blue Metallic (387) with Blue Velour (902) trim.

It is described as largely original and unrestored, with single ownership since 1994 and two magazine features to its name. The paperwork is extensive: the owner's wallet, an original service booklet recording twelve Mercedes-Benz services from the 1970s, MOT certificates back to 1979, and invoices from the 1980s to the present.

Work over the years includes a gearbox rebuild, fuel injection pump service, and brake and suspension overhauls. There was a major body and mechanical overhaul in the early 2000s, then roughly €27,000 of work by Mercedes in Germany in 2017. More recently it has had over £9,000 spent on the starter motor, front brakes, coolant hoses and running gear.
