The 300SEL 6.3 put the 6.3-litre M100 V8 from the 600 limousine into the S-Class bodyshell, making it one of the fastest saloons of its day. This 1971 car was one of the last 1,000 or so built, and has the 4-speed automatic and self-levelling air suspension, plus the rare option of Behr air conditioning.
It was originally supplied to America and has a Los Angeles history, including a period with an associate of the Petersen Automotive Museum. A UK customer of the dealer bought it in late 2020 and imported it. It has been repainted in its factory Tobacco Brown, with a Cognac interior.
Recent work covers the brakes, suspension and engine mounts, and it passed an MOT with no advisories. It has been in indoor storage since 2021 as part of a larger collection, and the dealer says it will be serviced before sale. No mileage is stated.
