Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pagoda

This is a right-hand-drive 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230 SL, the original W113 "Pagoda", finished in white over black leather. It is a UK-delivered car with the desirable four-speed manual gearbox, which suits the free-revving 2.3-litre six better than the automatic.

The car has been through a full restoration by the selling dealer. The bodyshell was remanufactured, including floors, sills, rear end and bulkhead, and repainted in period-correct Mercedes White 050. The engine, gearbox and both axles were stripped and rebuilt, the chrome replated, and the interior retrimmed in leather in place of the original vinyl. A new black Sonnenland soft top has been fitted, along with a stainless exhaust and new tyres.

Two changes depart from original specification: power steering from genuine parts, and electronic ignition. A restoration history file, period service invoices and a photographic record come with the car. The page says the work is in its final stages, and the original hardtop is still being restored in factory black.
