This 230 SL Pagoda was built to order in October 1964 for a US Army officer, a Second Lieutenant serving with an artillery battalion. It was specified in Arabian Grey with red leather and US-market equipment, but with English-language instruments. The original invoice came to 23,495 Deutsche Marks.
The documentation is unusually full. It includes the original bill of sale and the shipping record from Bremen to New Orleans in 1965. It also covers the car's changes of hands in America, where it stayed for 56 years. By that paperwork it had three owners in the US.
The car was imported to the UK in 2021 and has been here since. Because of the import, the V5C shows one owner. It has a manual gearbox and has covered 69,015 miles. It is not ULEZ compliant.
