The 230 SL was the first of the W113 'Pagoda' SLs, named for the concave roof line of its removable hardtop. It paired a 2.3-litre fuel-injected six-cylinder with a light, well-sorted chassis, and remains one of the more usable and widely admired classic Mercedes roadsters.
This 1964 right-hand-drive car has a four-speed manual gearbox and is finished in DB050 White with a Cognac leather interior and a black soft top. It is described as a matching-numbers example, retaining its original factory engine, and shows 3,700 miles.
The seller reports restoration work worth more than £100,000, carried out in house. It covers a bodyshell restoration and full respray, a full engine rebuild, injection pump and steering box rebuilds, a brake system overhaul, an electronic 123 ignition upgrade, a new fuel tank and windscreen, and wider mechanical and electrical work. Invoices are available on request.
