Listed today at Drew Wheeler.
This W111 220 SEB Coupe was built in September 1961 and is a left-hand-drive car with a four-speed manual gearbox, a combination that is rare for the model. The pillarless body with its wraparound screens is widely regarded as one of Mercedes-Benz's best post-war designs.
The car was first registered in the US and was imported to the UK in 2017 by its current owner. The Data Card confirms it retains its original, matching numbers for chassis, body, engine and gearbox. It is finished in Ice Blue metallic over a red leather interior and has the less common sunroof option.
The owner carried out a ground-up restoration that took more than two years and was finished in 2019. A large file of invoices and Mercedes-Benz documents records the work. After the restoration the car was invited to be displayed at the Mercedes-Benz World Museum. The listing is marked as sold.
