Maserati Ghibli Spyder By Campana

This Ghibli began as a Giugiaro-designed coupé and was later converted to open Spyder form by Carrozzeria Campana of Modena, a coachbuilder with long ties to Maserati. Such conversions are far rarer than the factory coupé.

The engine is stamped AM115/49, which identifies the 4.9-litre Ghibli SS V8, and it carries the same number as the chassis, 1578. The car was previously catalogued as a 4.7, so the SS engine may be original, though the dealer says this merits further investigation. It drives through a five-speed ZF manual gearbox.

Delivered new to Switzerland, it later passed through a Brussels collection and a French Calvados producer before reaching the UK in 2022. It was restored and mechanically reworked before sale by Gallery Aaldering that year. It is finished in reported original metallic black with a black hood and cream leather, on Turrino wire wheels. Later work includes a new clutch, an uprated starter, alternator and cooling fans, and a stainless exhaust with new headers, with tuning by Colin Clarke Engineering. A history file and a Maserati Classiche presentation box come with it. The odometer reads 56,412 miles.
