Lamborghini Countach 5000S

The 5000S was the first Countach to receive the enlarged 4.8-litre V12, and this one has a rare place in the production record. Chassis CLA12487 was delivered new to Portman Lamborghini in London in 1982, the 16th of 321 cars built and only the second of 33 right-hand-drive examples. It has stayed in the UK throughout its life, with all nine owners traceable back to first registration.

The history is unusually eventful. The car appeared on the cover of Paul Cockerham's 1998 book on Lamborghini, in Classic & Sports Car in 2000 and in an episode of Top Gear. A restoration begun in the 2000s stalled when the specialist went out of business, leaving it dismantled until it was sold at auction in 2021 as a project.

The new owner sent the car and more than 50 boxes of parts to G.A. Restauri in Modena, where the work was overseen by Valentino Balboni and finished in April 2025. The body was taken back to bare metal and refinished in its original Nero, the engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes and wiring were rebuilt, and the interior was retrimmed in Champagne leather from original surplus Countach hides. It shows 39,000 miles, has been used sparingly since, and comes with a clear HPI check.
