This 1972 Datsun 240Z is presented as an Official Ontario Motor Speedway Pace Car duplicate. Nissan is said to have built fifty to mark the 240Z's selection to pace the 1972 USAC California 500, and this is described as the only known survivor.
The car was bought new from Gillian Datsun in Inglewood, California, and ran in its blue and white OMS livery until the early 1980s. The first owner then repainted it Jaguar Burgundy and stored it in the mid-1980s. It was pulled out of storage in 2007 and sold to a friend of the owner, who began restoration. Layers of paint were peeled back to reveal the original 1972 colours.
It passed through Motorcar Classics of New York in 2018. The Z Farm then carried out a full restoration during 2019, including an engine rebuild and upgrades to the suspension and running gear. The car is currently finished in Jaguar Burgundy over original red leather, which has a few minor changes such as a rear strap bar. It shows 13,600 miles, has had three owners and is UK registered. Since the work it has been kept in dry storage, with one trip to the South of France.
