This is a 1972 Datsun 240Z that has been rebuilt as a road-legal competition car, not a restoration. The shell was stripped, baked and acid dipped, then strengthened at the chassis rails, suspension mounting points and front structure. The ZG-style extended arches are hand-formed in metal rather than bolted on.
Power comes from a newly built 2.8-litre engine built around a 280 block, with a Farndon billet crank, JE pistons, a Kameari cam and triple Weber 48 DCOE carburettors. It was recently set up on the rolling road by Mek Motorsport, which recorded 254 bhp at 6,240rpm and 233 lb ft. The gearbox uses S14A competition internals in a Z bellhousing, with an AP triple-plate clutch and a limited-slip differential.
The chassis has adjustable Koni suspension, four-pot AP Racing front brakes and an adjustable brake bias. Weight is reduced with lightened panels, Perspex glazing, a fibreglass dashboard and a fuel cell. Safety kit includes an FIA roll cage and an electric fire suppression system. The car has 11 previous owners and recently completed a fault-free shakedown at Donington Park. Competition stands are included. The page gives no usable mileage figure.
