About this car

This 1990 Caterham Classic is a barn find, offered as a restoration project rather than a runner. It was ordered from the factory as a kit without an engine. The 1700 X-Flow was supplied separately in 1989 by Rally-Tune, a specialist in tuned X-Flows, and is quoted at 135 bhp. It sits in a live-axle S3 chassis with a four-speed gearbox, flared arches and a 4-into-1 exhaust.

The car has had four owners in its 36 years, and the last kept it for almost 19 years. It has not moved since 2011 because of the owner's ill health. The dealer describes the bodywork, chassis and interior as very good, but the car has not been started in about 15 years and needs a comprehensive recommissioning. It is being sold with its dust still on it.
