This is a new Caterham built for the 2025 Academy, the one-make championship the company has run for novice racers since 1995. The car is a road-legal Seven powered by a 1.6-litre Ford Sigma engine producing 125 bhp, driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

Academy cars are set up to teach car control, with an open differential and low-grip tyres in place of the sharper hardware found on faster Sevens.
