Chassis 46491 is one of two unbodied Type 46 chassis that Richard Baudens bought from Roland Bugatti in the 1950s. The other, 46482, was later matched to the sole surviving Superprofilée body and now sits in the Schlumpf Collection in France. This car never received coachwork in period.
The body it wears now is a Superprofilée-style coupe, built over more than a decade for its long-term owner, who had first planned a Semi-Profilée. Work began at Barrie Price's workshops and was finished at Keith Bowley's in the Cotswolds. It is painted black over blue, and it is the only coachwork this chassis has carried. Power comes from the 5,359cc single-cam straight-eight, rated at 140 bhp and driving through a three-speed manual gearbox.
The dealer describes the car as being in effectively new condition after a concours-standard UK restoration, with only occasional use since. That use included Salon Privé in 2009 and 2010. It is UK registered as 701XUL. No mileage is given, and the page shows the price as accepted.
