Bugatti EB110 Super Sport Prototype

This is chassis 39004, known as SS04 or S4, one of a handful of Bugatti EB110 Super Sport prototypes. It was the first EB110 built specifically as a Super Sport, and the first with a chassis code different from the GT's (02 rather than 01). As the earliest prototype it kept an early 'A' coded engine, where production Super Sports used the 'B' block.

Bugatti used it for development and as a promotional car, showing it at Tokyo's Ark Hills in April 1993. It was allocated to a client in Japan and spent most of its life there with the racing driver and Bugatti ambassador Sokichi Shikiba, who took it on the 1994 Bugatti Rally International. During his ownership it gained production quarter panels and engine cover, and black-painted cylinder head covers. It returned to the Campogalliano factory for a photoshoot in 2021.

The car shows 7,850 miles (about 12,600 km) and is described as in superb condition throughout. The dealer says its workshop will carry out an engine-out service as part of the sale. The listing is marked as sold.
